We recently finished a complete refurbishment of a five storey house close to the centre of the city of Bath. Our client had always wanted to live in a Georgian town house so when this property came on the market, she snapped it up.
The house was originally built in the Regency period as a business, but it had already been converted into a private home when the client took ownership.
A Grade II listed property, the house needed top to toe renovation throughout. The lath and plaster ceilings and bannisters and stone staircases were repaired, and fireplaces and sash windows were restored. Pennant stone flags were laid in the lower ground floor and floorboards throughout were restored and repaired with reclaimed pitch pine from Chaunceys Timber.
The Papilio Bespoke Kitchens team redesigned an already established kitchen on the lower ground floor. They created a sophisticated townhouse kitchen with contemporary elements, whilst also highlighting the original Georgian features. They also incorporated a much-needed dining space and a functional pantry. You can read more about the kitchen design here.
We fitted column radiators from House of Radiators, replaced all the bathroom suites and resited the master suite, installed new light fittings and painted throughout using paint from Farrow & Ball. We chose rugs, blinds, wallpaper, fitted cupboards and new freestanding furniture to blend seamlessly with the client’s own pieces.
All the rooms, bar the attic rooms and kitchen, had their original shutters restored to let light flood into the house. Once the building work was completed on the house, we undertook a complete redesign to turn it into a stylish and comfortable family home.
